About Barrie Area Native Advisory Circle

Since its inception in 1989 The Barrie Area Native Advisory Circle has functioned as a regional social planning and development organization based upon the concepts of life long learning, self determination, and community participation. We are dedicated to promoting a wholistic approach to address common concerns of all member communities. We will instill the importance of the Anishnabe language, wisdom and knowledge in all our endeavors. BANAC region now covers Simcoe County, Muskoka, and the northern York Region.

We work in cooperation with communities in areas of concern where coordinated efforts are required to meet the needs which positively impact the region. BANAC will continue in this social planning capacity, offering consultation and support for our community development.

Our primary objective is to serve as a regional social health and planning organization functioning as an incubator of ideas in areas where a strong regional voice is needed.

Our current initiatives include Indigenous community development in the areas of child care, health planning, social development, and support to seniors and families.
